Directors Cut

Pre-Production

Our collaboration began on October 27, when we met with Lauren, Pinch’s Head of Marketing, to align on goals for their holiday campaign. Pinch was in the middle of a full rebrand, and while their internal design team was still refining the new visual identity, they wanted to create something that felt firmly rooted in the updated brand language; sleek, modern, editorial but with a distinctly warm, holiday-forward twist. A huge portion of pre-production revolved around finding the right environment. Their newly introduced brand color—a rich, warm red—became a guiding visual anchor, and we needed a location that could merge clinical precision with cozy holiday. After several scout passes, we landed on the Schweikher House in Elk Grove Village, a Japanese-inspired mid-century modern home with an abundance of natural light, clean horizontal lines, and warm wood tones. It struck the perfect balance between the “editorial clinical” identity Pinch was stepping into and the approachable, intimate feeling we needed for a holiday spot. Once the location was locked, we brought on Afrim Zenuni as Director of Photography. His approach to overheads, pre-visualization, and blocking elevated the entire creative. Afrim selected the ARRI Mini LF paired with Panavision P70 Panaspeeds, giving us the large-format depth and richness needed for both a polished director’s cut and social-first 9x16 deliverables. .

Creative Approach

Pinch’s rebrand was built around minimalism, confidence, and an elevated clinical aesthetic—so our direction approached the holiday season through a lens that felt less “festive tradition” and more quiet luxury at home. We wanted the viewer to feel like they were stepping into a space where beauty, comfort, and personal care intersect; an environment that makes sense for a concierge med-spa that literally brings clinical expertise into the home. The Schweikher House ultimately became the visual thesis. Its long lines, glass walls, and open spaces reinforced Pinch’s modern, clinical qualities, while the wood textures, architectural warmth, and 1930s craftsmanship gave us room to explore intimacy and holiday coziness without falling into cliché. We leaned into soft directional sunlight, natural diffusion through glass, and gentle accents of the signature Pinch red woven into props, wardrobe, and set pieces.  Overall, the creative direction became a visual bridge: honoring the sophistication of Pinch’s new identity while inviting the audience into a moment of holiday warmth crafted specifically for them.

Pre-Vis

What we learned…

1.

Make the pre-vis assets motion, not just photos. This helps with seeing the editing flow as well as motion matching and everything flows well.

2.

Have at least 14 days for PD to order what they need…props get lost in shipping and it becomes a huge headache for everyone.

3.

Make sure to do a group safety meeting rather than the AD going around to every department individually

4.

We need a Covalent on site Theragun. Got to treat the people.

5.

Before you order catering from mediterranean spot, make sure to double check that the meat platters come with rice or not because you’ll end up ordering an additiional rice platter and then have rice for months afterwards.
